Seminyak is ‘the place to be’ in Bali. Located on Bali’s southwest coast, Seminyak offers a beautiful wide beach, surfers in the surf, trendy restaurants and bars, luxury spas and a wide variety of shops. Nowhere in Bali has the change been as great as in Seminyak: from a fishing village surrounded by rice fields, Seminyak has changed into a fashionable seaside resort. You will find the most beautiful resorts, cozy boutique hotels and luxurious private villas, which are ideal to rent with a family, group of friends or for a romantic stay for two.
Staying in Seminyak
In Seminyak you can find budget hotels as well as luxury and mid-range hotels. There are virtually no accommodations in Seminyak for backpackers, except for a number of simple places to stay in the center. Backpackers should stay in the neighboring towns of Kuta or Legian. The most beautiful resorts have been established along the coast of Seminyak, where you will lack nothing during your holiday. Even more luxury? Then rent one of the many private villas in Seminyak. Including private pool and lots of privacy. Seminyak is a great base to explore the rest of Bali. Take a day trip to the more traditional Ubud, considered the cultural center of Bali. Or visit the beautiful rice fields of Jatiluwih or Tegalalang (both UNESCO world heritage sites) or one of the beautiful temples such as Pura Tanah Lot and Pura Uluwatu.

Popular beach bars
The sandy beach of Seminyak is wide and quiet, especially compared to the beach of neighboring Kuta, which mainly attracts backpackers and Australians who are looking for a destination for a party holiday not too far from home. The sand is not white because of the volcanoes in Bali, but that does not make the beach any less nice a place to be. Seminyak offers beautiful beach clubs along the coast, where you can enjoy yourself in luxury. Think of comfortable lounge beds, relaxing music, delicious snacks and drinks and a refreshing swimming pool with a view of the beach and the sea. Some well-known beach clubs are Cocoon, Potato Head and Ku De Ta. You can also go to these beach clubs for brunch, lunch or dinner with a sea view. Would you prefer something less luxurious? Seminyak offers many cozy beach bars. For example, La Plancha where you sit on large, colored bean bags under equally colorful parasols that are attractively lit in the evening. You can enjoy the sunset here while enjoying something to eat and drink.
Popular shopping areas
Seminyak offers a wide variety of shops selling furniture, art, clothing and souvenirs. When it comes to innovative and fashionable shops, Seminyak is the center of Bali. Jalan Laksmana is home to many small boutiques, as well as luxury design shops with beautiful clothing, shoes, bags and jewelry. Jalan Kerobokan is a good place if you are looking for furniture stores and Balinese antiques. Near Seminyak, in Kuta, you will also find some indoor shopping centers. There is the Discovery Shopping Mall, the Beachwalk Shopping Center and the Lipo Mall Kuta. The shopping centers in Kuta are beautiful and modern, including air conditioning, and you will find everything you need, from restaurants and sandwich shops to large Western brand stores such as Mango, Zara, Tommy Hilfiger and Rip Curl. The Beachwalk Shopping Center is the newest and also the most beautiful and luxurious. In the Discovery Shopping Mall, in addition to the Western shops, you can also find smaller shops where you can buy souvenirs and where it is possible to haggle and negotiate about the price, just like on the street in Bali.

Looking for traditional Balinese items or do you want to buy fresh products such as vegetables and fruit? This can be done at the Seminyak Market, located at the end of Jalan Raya Seminyak. To the north, bordering Seminyak, is Kerobokan, where there is a similar traditional market called Taman Sari. The best time to visit these markets is between 7am and 11am. The more touristy items and souvenirs can mainly be found at the market stalls in the center around Seminyak Square.
Best restaurants in Bali
Seminyak is innovative and progressive in every area, including food. As a result, you will find the hippest restaurants and bars, where you can enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and delicious cocktails. Seminyak offers something for everyone when it comes to food. Of course you can find good restaurants with Indian specialties. Especially in the so-called warungs (small family-run eateries), you can taste delicious local dishes. In Seminyak you will also find restaurants with sushi, tapas, fresh fish, pizza, burgers, you name it. Luxury dining can mainly be enjoyed in the beautiful, large hotels on the coast where you can enjoy food and drinks with a view of the sunset. Such as in the rooftop bar of the Double-Six hotel or in the Breeze restaurant of The Samaya Seminyak hotel. The main street when it comes to good restaurants in Seminyak is Jalan Laksmana or Eat street, where you will find some of the best restaurants in Bali.
