Location

Saint Jean du Gard

Saint Jean du Gard is a pleasant village on the Gardon River in the French department of Gard in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. A large weekly market takes place every Tuesday, a farmers’ market with regional products every Saturday morning and a flea market on Mondays in the high season and an evening market on Thursday evenings. A walk from Mas de la Cam campsite to the center of Saint Jean du Gard is approximately 45 minutes.

Cévennes

The campsite is located on the edge of the Cevennes protected nature reserve. The landscape in the Cévennes is very varied: mountains, deep gorges, caves, mountain rivers, small streams, forests and grasslands, it’s all there. The nature is still extremely unspoilt and you will still find authentic villages. The area is ideal for the most beautiful walks, bike rides and car rides.

Camping

The campsite is located at an altitude of 205 meters on a wooded and flowery domain of 65 hectares. The campsite is beautifully situated, directly on a beautiful river. Due to its quiet location, the campsite is not bothered by ambient noise. The campsite is mainly flat to slightly sloping. Most places on the campsite are shaded, but there are also a number of sunny places. The pitches vary in size and in some parts of the campsite you are somewhat close together.
You can visit this beautifully landscaped green campsite from approximately May to September. The reception at the campsite is hospitable. The campsite has many annually returning guests. The ANWB rating in 2016 is 4.5 stars (maximum is 5 stars).

River

The campsite is located directly on the Gardon River. The river runs for 800 meters along the campsite. Every year at the end of June a dam is built in the river, making it possible to swim on one side of the dam. On the other side of the dam, children can build dams and ride the rapids on an air mattress or large swimming pool. The river is wonderful for cooling off, floating on the water and very suitable for fishing. The Gardon also has a deep area near the campsite where you can swim. There is a grass beach adjacent to the river, where you can relax and be healthy.
