General information

Ireland is a beautiful island in Europe. This island is also home to the Northern Ireland region, which is part of the United Kingdom. The capital of Ireland is Dublin. Ireland is a green country with many national parks. You will find numerous rock formations, mountain areas, caves, waterfalls, rivers and beautiful coastal beaches. The Irish people are very hospitable and friendly. It is best to travel to Ireland in the months of May, June and September. In the summer months temperatures are around 15 to 25 degrees. In Ireland it is an hour earlier than in the Netherlands and, just like us, you pay with the euro. In Northern Ireland this is pounds.

There are plenty of cheap hotels, bed & breakfasts or inns in Ireland. The inns usually have a pub or restaurant, where the Irish often come to have a beer together. Bed & breakfast is very personal and very popular in Ireland. Most B&Bs have a few rooms and you eat together with other guests at the host or hostess’s dining table. Inns or guesthouses are also a good alternative. An inn is similar to an inn. Hotels are generally a lot more expensive.

Driving in Ireland is a bit different than we are used to in the Netherlands, this is mainly due to driving on the left. You can therefore also choose to drive an automatic. At every airport in Ireland you will come across many car rental companies that are willing to help you. Driving yourself gives you a lot of freedom and you can stop almost anywhere. Fortunately, the Irish also have much more patience in traffic than we do. Fuel costs about one and a half euros per liter in Ireland.

To see the most beautiful places, you can take a tour along the coast of the Republic of Ireland. You will then make a trip of approximately 1000 km, passing national parks and the most beautiful places in Ireland. It’s even more fun to take the small, somewhat unknown roads, because this way you will encounter the most beautiful and quietest places Ireland has to offer!
