Denali National Park
The highest mountain in North America is Denali. In the 19th century, the 6,194-meter-high mountain was discovered by explorer William A. Dickey. Due to the height of the mountain, the area has its own climate. In 1917, the area around Mount Denali and Mount McKinley was declared a national park. The park is home to part of the largest fracture in the Earth’s crust in North America. As a result, there are many rock formations in the park. Centuries of erosion have created plateaus with mountains in the middle. The mountains form a natural border between interior Alaska and Anchorage. The animal species that occur there are lynx, wolves, Dall sheep, caribou, moose, black bears and grizzly bears. Trees found there are aspen, spruce, birch and balsam poplar. In the area you will have to be on the lookout for black and grizzly bears in particular. They just walk around freely.
